Project Progress in 2021

The Elephant Conservation and Environment Foundation, Kuet Chang Subdistrict, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, is a non-profit organization working for the conservation and protection of elephants through study and research into elephant well-being, providing care and assistance to sick and elderly elephants, disabled elephants, and other animals, including campaigns to encourage the new generation to see the importance of elephants and the environment.

The Elephant Conservation and Environment Foundation, Chiang Mai Province, has been granted a donation of 1,000,000 baht by the Suthirat Yoovidhya Foundation. On August 5, 2021, the President of the Elephant Conservation Foundation, Khun Saengduean Chailert, will be the recipient of the donation. The funds will be utilized to support the elephant and other sick animal welfare initiatives, including the operation of community clinics and the mobile animal ambulance project, as well as the provision of food and medicine. Presently, the elephant population in care exceeds one hundred, with seventy percent of them being elderly or disabled specimens in need of specialized attention. Additionally, over 5,000 additional animals, including dogs, cats, cattle, buffalo, wild boar, rabbits, horses, and goats, are in care. Furthermore, it fosters the development of elephant food crops, establishes an elephant food bank known as the Food Bank for Elephants, which assists villagers, and offers mahouts and elephant herder families nationwide multidisciplinary training during the COVID-19 epidemic crisis.
