Supporting the National Geriatrics Science Center Project, Samut Sakhon Province

The Suthirat Yoovidhya Foundation recognizes the importance of work that influences the development of various aspects of society in order to benefit the public in accordance with the Foundation’s spirit and objectives. In July, four agencies received 1,000,000 baht donations to support social work, with the goal of driving work that benefits society, culture, and the environment.

On July 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital, Mr. Somkid Rujipakorn, Secretary-General of the Foundation, and Mr. Vuttipong Chacaratphong, Vice President, represented the Suthirat Foundation, giving 1,000,000 baht to fund construction and procurement of medical equipment from the National Center for Geriatric Medicine.

Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, is carrying out the construction of the “National Center for Geriatric Medicine” at Khlong Si Wa Pasawat Road, Na Di Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon District, Samut Sakhon Province, to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of the coronation ceremony and to provide the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital with a center for producing medical personnel with expertise in geriatric medicine and promoting general personnel to have knowledge and skills in caring for the elderly. It is a center that provides care for elderly patients based on geriatric medicine principles, as well as a center for studying and producing research for application in health promotion and disease prevention in the elderly. It is also a model for caring for the elderly that will be used as a practice guideline for health service facilities throughout the country by the Ministry of Public Health.

The center consists of 12 building groups, which are divided into six service buildings: 1) Research and Training Building 2) Outpatient Building 3) Inpatient Building 1 4) Inpatient Building 2 5) Rehabilitation and Therapy Building 6) The personnel dormitory and healthy aging center, as well as a group of six supporting buildings, including the electrical substation, kitchen, and cloth support building. Each building will have a skywalk that connects them for safe travel. The first phase will open for service in January 2023, consisting of an outpatient building, an inpatient building 1, an elderly rehabilitation building, a personnel dormitory building, and a healthy aging center, a kitchen and cloth support building, a body rest building, wastewater treatment, garbage storage building, engineering and maintenance system room building, and building connections, including the Royal Monument to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Siri.
